Ok so this might be a good explanation of my view on silly cars like the Nissan Versa or Toyota Yaris and such. I hate those silly cars. People are all about going green and saving the planet. If this is your mind set then you need to get out of the fast lane and into a bus or just WALK! Seriously though I have a passion for driving and I think as a Culture we have a reason for cars and it is far more then a mode of transportation.
When I get behind the wheel of a vehicle that has something to offer, aside from a point A to point B mode of transportation I feel alive! I wrote a essay in High School where I mentioned that there is no greater feeling then watching the needle of a speedometer move past the 120mph mark as the lines on the road become blurred into one solid white line. This is passion, knowing that you are in control of your actions and that at any point you might have to make a decision that could ultimately decide your fate and possibly the fate of someone else and this is a option that we all confront every day. Do I justify driving like a asshole? I try not to, but it happens. Behind the wheel of a car has been something that has inspired a World to accomplish great things. Although I am no race car driver or instructor, I am positive that there are far better driver than I, I am a firm believer that people are trying to change the Auto into something it was never designed to be. Cars and Trucks can be the best release of personal expression known to us and yet people will trade in there Corvette's and Mustangs to save a few bucks and that is very literal.
On average a Sports car will get between 10-17 Miles per gallon as opposed to a Hybrid that gets around 35 Miles per gallon correct? So if I drive more then the average person (100 Miles a Day) That is equal to 3,000 Miles a Month. If I get 10 Miles per gallon that is 300 Gallons of Fuel a Month. If I drove a Hybrid that got 4 Times as good gas Millage what would I be saving? Well I would only use 75 Gallons of fuel, or saving 225 Gallons of Fuel $675 a month in gas savings.... Let me say that if your personality allows you to be bought by $675 a Month then you are incredibly shallow. My example here is a Huge Extreme Given that the average sports car on the road will do much better then 10 Miles per gallon where as the average Hybrid will get closer to 35 Mile per gallon.
So what is my point I am trying to make? I think people are giving up a piece of them selves when they see the Hybrid logo and it makes me sick. Even if it is not a Hybrid but something that people justify by saying it is "practical" or "efficient" My passion for driving a car has very little to do with getting from point A to point B but it has everything to do with Mending point A to point B with the fabric of my personality. So when you see the grill shining on the Denali in your rear view mirror, GET THE F%^* OUT OF MY WAY! If we did not have inspiration to do more and live better we would all be the yuppie at whole foods buying his soy late and driving his prius with the sweater vest. Ill keep my leather jacket and Sell houses to people who strive to be different and express there own personality's while driving Exotic cars and spending the money that they wont be able to take with them to the Grave. I sure hope when I look back at my life I don't think, "Man that sure feels good, all the hard work and time I spent building that Giant savings account" LOL Yeah save money for a rainy day and save the environment cause when you are in line at the bank to make the weekly deposit and the guy behind you snaps and robs the place I know you will be the guy who hands over your money and the keys to your prius, because it means nothing to you, just like the life you will some day leave behind.......
